Word Document Masking
Before a contract or a report leaves the office, mask the phone numbers, ID cards and email addresses in the body, tables, headers, footers and footnotes. Only .docx is supported, and nothing is uploaded. This tool is not compliance certification.
100% browser-based · files never uploaded
1Choose the masking rules
Once ticked, the whole document is scanned and matched text is replaced in place. Secrets and credentials are always on. Personal names are only recognised in patterns such as "Contact: John Doe" or "Mr. Smith" — add a custom keyword for a fixed form of address.
Custom keywords
These only apply to this session and are not written into the downloaded report.
2Import the Word file
3Review and download
You will get a zip: the masked .docx plus a report file (without the original text).

Frequently asked questions
- Is the file uploaded?
- No. Parsing and replacing both happen in the browser on this computer — TwoThink never receives the contents of your document.
- Do you support .doc files?
- No. The old .doc format and encrypted documents are not supported. Save the file as an unencrypted .docx in Word and drop it in.
- Will the original formatting be damaged?
- The replacement happens inside the existing text runs, so paragraphs, tables and fonts are kept. Bold or coloured fragments inside a sentence may pick up the formatting of the preceding text after masking.
- Are all personal names removed?
- No. Without a label such as "Contact:" or "Mr. Smith" in the body, Chinese personal names are not treated as sensitive. Use a custom keyword for a fixed form of address.
- What about images, comments and tracked changes?
- They are not processed. Text inside images and scans cannot be recognised, comments are left alone, and text that was already deleted in tracked changes stays as it is so the history is not scrambled. Please read the document once more before you send it out.
- Does the downloaded report contain the original text?
- No. The report only lists the rules that were used and how many replacements were made. The before/after comparison stays on this computer so you can check it.
- Does this count as PIPL / classified-protection compliance?
- No. This tool only helps you handle text before you share a file; compliance still depends on your own policies and legal advice.
